Gela is a village in Rhodopes in South Bulgaria. The nearest villages are Solishta and Stikal. The history of the village is dated back to thracians. Near the village is located thracian fortress Gradishte explored by archeologist Nikola Damyanov. There are two legends about the village realated to history of the village. The first is that it is the birthplace of Orpheus. The second legend is related to end of Second Bulgarian kingdom. The population of village is main christian.
