Olšiny pond Czech Republic 3/5

The pond is located at an altitude of 731 m above sea level and is one of the highest ponds in Bohemia.

The catching of Olšiny takes place in the traditional way once every two years at the end of October.

On the dam stands an old fishing bastion with a mansard roof, a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, on the site of the aforementioned dam breach. The listed building houses an exhibition on fishing and the history of the region.

The 7.5 km long Olšina Nature Trail runs around the pond; there is a stop at the pond called Na Olšině of the Knížecí Stolec Nature Trail.
